But some old people are having trouble with even the most basic emojis. Like the face with tears of joy — hysterical laughter — which they use to express sadness. In their defense, it’s quite easy to mix the two in digital form if you don’t give it much thought or your eyesight is weakening. However, receiving bad news from someone who appears to be so happy about it, they’re happy-crying is wrong on so, so many levels.
