In a horrific collision involving at least six cars at an intersection in the Windsor Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, six people—including a newborn and a pregnant woman—were killed.
Newly released, shocking security video of the collision shows the crossroads as it appears to be normal, with traffic moving along at a decent pace, before a black Mercedes vehicle comes barreling through a red light like a rocket.
Just before 2:00 p.m., a collision was reported near La Brea and Slauson avenues. Six individuals, including an infant and a pregnant lady, were killed in the collision and fires, according to the CHP and coroner.
One person chose not to be taken to the hospital. For their injuries, eight further people were sent to the hospital.
“I saw things flying through the air in the explosion. Then all of a sudden, a baby flew in the air, all the way from the middle of the road to my pump, and landed on the floor,” Veronica Esquivel, a witness who was pumping gas at the time of the horrific crash, said.
Esquivel claimed that while picking up the infant and attempting to assist, she was sobbing uncontrollably. The youngster passed away.
One adult and six youngsters both had minor wounds. According to the CHP and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the youngest of those kids was only 13 months old, while the others were 8, 11, 13, 14 and 15.
According to reports, the individuals were released Thursday night and “in good condition.”
Authorities reported that the 37-year-old driver of the Mercedes, a second adult, was seriously hurt. NBC4 was informed by numerous sources on Thursday night that the driver is a nurse who is thought to be from somewhere other than Southern California.
According to UCLA Health on Thursday night, the eighth patient was still undergoing evaluation and was in fair condition.
The coroner confirmed that the six victims were pronounced dead at the spot. Along with the gender of the pregnant woman, their ages and sexes have not yet been determined.
The CHP sent an update at around 8 p.m. stating that a seventh body had been discovered inside one of the burning vehicles, bringing the total number of fatalities to six. A fetus is included in the total number of six reported by the CHP and coroner.
