A woman who was found dead inside a burning apartment in Southeast D.C. was shot, and police are investigating her death as a homicide.
It happened Sunday around 4 p.m. on the 2300 block of Green Street. The flames were confined to a terrace-level apartment.
The victim has been identified as Cynthia Barringer, 32, of D.C. When firefighters found her, she had suffered multiple burn injuries. She then was taken to the medical examiner’s office, a news release said.
An autopsy Monday found that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and her death was ruled a homicide.
D.C. police is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest or conviction in the case. Anyone with information should call police at 202-727-9099.
