A man was arrested on Monday, 5th of October for allegedly firing an AR-15 rifle at a Census worker who was helping residents register for the 2020 United States Census.
WKMG acquired A body-cam footage acquired by WKMG, shows Flagler County deputies responding to Michael Cooper’s home after the government employee claimed Cooper who is 32 years old, had shot at him. Cooper, in his defense told the officers that the worker did not have a badge and he feared for his life which is why he fired at him. However, the residents had something completely different to say as they reportedly told police that the Census worker’s badge was clearly visible and they heard him identify himself as a census worker as well. Further, his vehicle identified him as a U.S. Census worker as well. Therefore, Cooper’s statement to defend him holds no value as it contradicts with the residents statements.
