A video obtained by KRON shows a man carrying a knife and trailing a couple in San Francisco Tuesday afternoon.
Skylar Givens, a software engineer, told the news station that he was taking a walk around Jefferson Square Park with his wife and dog when a man reportedly began chasing them down after pulling out a knife from his bag.
“He pulled out this big knife,” Givens told the news station. “It was like 10 or 12 inches and thankfully I had a taser with me and I ended up firing the taser at him so I could get away and run away quickly.”
But the man continued following, Givens said, and he told KRON he hid “behind a security gate at his home.”
A San Francisco police spokesman confirmed to SFGATE that the incident took place near Eddy and Laguna Streets, by the park.
The suspect, a 56-year old man, was arrested without incident and taken to San Francisco County Jail.
He had a separate warrant “unrelated to the incident,” police said.
Givens told KRON he feels “a little less safe than I used to as I’ve been walking around throughout the day,” and is considering leaving the city.
