TESCO shoppers signed up to the supermarket’s Clubcard loyalty scheme will get exclusive discounts from this Monday.
For just over three weeks, Tesco will run its Clubcard Prices promotion where items will be discounted in store and online for members only.
Tesco is remaining tight-lipped about exactly what products will be included in the promotion but last time saw 200 items reduced in price.
This included branded food, F&F clothing and even televisions, with savings of between 15 and 50 per cent.
The full list of items you’ll find discounted in the Clubcard Prices deal will be revealed when the promotion starts on Monday.
The offers will then run until October 2.
Supermarket loyalty schemes – which has one?
MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop.
Here we round up what saving programmes you’ll find at the big brands.
- Iceland: Unlike other stores, you don’t collect points with the Iceland Bonus Card. Instead, you load it up with money and Iceland will give you £1 for every £20 you save. Cash isn’t protected though.
- Morrisons: Morrisons’ More gives customers five points per £1 spent in store. When customers earn 5,000 points they receive a £5 voucher.
- Sainsbury’s: While Sainsbury’s doesn’t have a personal scheme, it does own the Nectar card which can also be used in Argos, eBay and other shops. You need 200 Nectar points to save up £1 to spend on your card. You need to spend at least £1 to get one Nectar point.
- Tesco: Tesco Clubcard has over 17million members in the UK alone. You use it each time you shop and build up points that can be turned into vouchers – 150 points gets you a £1.50 voucher. Here you need to spend £1 in Tesco to get one point.
- Waitrose: myWaitrose also doesn’t allow you to collect points but instead you’ll get access to free hot drinks, and discounts off certain brands in store.
Tesco last ran the promotion back in May and it included the majority of stores nationwide so we expect this to be the case this time round.
To find the best discounts, all products included in Clubcard Prices in store will be marked with a promotion label.
Offers will also be highlighted for shoppers buying online.
Then all you’ll need to do is present your Clubcard at the till or enter your member number before paying online.
It doesn’t matter when you signed up so customers can still become a member now to access the deals.
Signing up is free and you can become a member online by clicking here.
If you’d rather become a member in store, you can find your nearest Tesco with the online branch finder.
Megan French, consumer expert MoneySavingExpert.com, said: “If you’re a Tesco shopper, this is another reason to consider getting a Clubcard.
“Even without this promo it’s a decent loyalty scheme, and if you sign up now you’ll be ready to take advantage when the discounts go live.”
However, it’s important to remember that discounts aren’t always as good of a deal as they might appear.
You might still find the same product cheaper elsewhere so it’s worth comparing prices before handing over any cash.
mySupermarket is considered a reputable website for checking the cost of products in store to ensure you get the best deal.
MoneySavingExpert continued: “Loyalty cards like Clubcard, Nectar and so on should never dictate where you shop – but if you’re going to shop there anyway, you might as well use one and get the benefit.”
Announcing the return of Clubcard Prices, Tesco said on its website: “We’re celebrating 100 years of great value, and to say thank you to our Clubcard customers for being part of that we have Clubcard Prices, just for you.”
