A Texas woman who was eight months pregnant was caught in the crossfire of a broad-daylight shooting outside her church over the weekend, police said.
The woman was leaving a church service in Dallas around 1 p.m. Sunday when at least two men began shooting at each other in the parking lot, according to police. The victim was struck by one of the bullets and had to be rushed to the hospital, the Dallas Police Department said in a statement.
Doctors were able to deliver the premature baby and both the mom and her child were in stable condition, authorities said. The extent of their injuries was not immediately disclosed.
Surveillance images obtained by investigators show three men in the parking lot, with two of them pointing their weapons at each other.
The shooters left the scene before cops arrived and have yet to be identified. Police said the men, who were believed to be Black, were driving a champagne Nissan sedan and a black Ford Focus.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Dallas police. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $4,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
