The 9th of January began for 5-year-old Kyle Doan and his mother much like any other Monday, despite the severe storms that were sweeping the state of California. It wasn’t quite 8:00 a.m. when the two got in the car and drove to Kyle’s school because there were no local road closures or evacuation orders in effect.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding a missing 5-year-old who was taken away in a car after it became caught in floodwaters around 7:45 in the morning. Locals from the area responded to the situation and saved the mother from the car before it was washed away with the child inside.
Kyle Doan and his mother were the two casualties, according to the reports. For the Doan family, what was supposed to be just another typical Monday swiftly turned tragic. Two days have passed since he was reported missing, and all the authorities have are one of the young boy’s shoes.
On Monday, a fleet of engines, a helicopter, a hands-on crew, and the Underwater Search and Rescue team started a five-hour search (USAR). Sadly, the search was put on hold because of the severe weather, which made it dangerous to enter some regions and see properly.
The Sheriff’s Office gave their first substantive update on the situation on Tuesday, characterizing the young kid as having “short dirty blond hair, hazel eyes, 4 feet tall, and 52 pounds.” Blue trousers, blue and gray Nike tennis shoes, and a black puffer jacket with a crimson liner were the last items saw wearing. Due to worries about their safety, they ask people to refrain from aiding.
According to a second report from the Sheriff’s Office, the search proceeded for the most of Tuesday with all hands on deck, including the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, USAR (Underwater Search and Rescue) Team, Drone Team, Deputies, Detectives, and aviation operations. The situation was still hazardous.
“The situation is still quite perilous. High and still moving quickly is the water level. The public is sternly advised not to perform self-initiated searches because doing so could put them in danger and make them victims who would require resources that would otherwise be used for searching, according to the update.
There’s Little Hope That Kyle Doan is Alive
The father of Kyle Doan, Brian Doan, spoke with CNN on Wednesday about the sorrow and suffering his family is currently through. Brian is being forced to face a truth that no parent should have to face in their lifetime, even though they would both want to sit around and hope that their young son is still alive.
It’s difficult to tell a lot of folks right now that this isn’t a rescue. the ,,,,,,,,,, And no parent wants to acknowledge that. And following the first night, I kind of knew it… And it’s a terrible, hard notion, particularly when it’s your child,” the father remarked, his voice breaking several times.
The car was eventually located, but Doan is still missing, and given how the floodwaters are moving, he may be anywhere. “You are aware of the chances. And even though folks try to be upbeat — and I’m supportive of my wife — it’s difficult, Brian added as he vented to the media.
He also discussed the upbringing of his son. He was a wonderful young man who enjoyed dancing. He was a talker and an extrovert. He enjoyed acting goofy and attempting to attract attention in the manners that a five-year-old would. He enjoys soccer and his Paw Patrol, said Brian, adding that he is eager to start school again.
