Last year, the star of “Jersey Shore,” Jenni ‘JWoww’ Farley, shared that her young son was diagnosed with autism.
At the time, her now 3-year-old son, Greyson, was non-verbal and wasn’t hitting his milestones as quickly as most growing children do. And ever since his diagnosis, the mom of two has made sure her son has received the best care and therapy in order to make sure he’s afforded the same opportunities as those who are not on the autism spectrum.
JWoww has also been keeping her social media followers updated on his progress. Most recently, the reality star shared a YouTube video detailing how far Greyson has come in just a year.
In the video, JWoww says that it’s been a little over six months since Greyson began working with “WE Care Autism.” The organization strives to “provide quality in-home therapy, as well as school-based consultation and training to better the lives of children on the autism spectrum and positively impact their lives, as well as the lives of their families.”
WE Care Autism uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to create a specific program for each child. JWoww said her son was recently approved for 30 hours of ABA services a week and that uptick in care has been a “game-changer.”
She continued:
“Not only that, Grayson goes to pre-school three hours a day, five days a week and his ABA therapist, Steph, goes there for two hours a day with him to really help him transition into the everyday world with people and little kids his own age. And you’re going to see the craziest difference ever.”
Just watch the video below to see for yourself:
As the video show, “this is all within a year. Going from not acknowledging your name or being able to sit for literally 30 seconds, to doing…I can’t even explain it.”
And those who watched the video said they love the message it was sending about children who are on the autism spectrum:
I love how this shows that just because a child can’t talk, it does not mean they aren’t intelligent or capable. They just need the right help to learn to communicate.
I can’t believe how far he has come in a year! A true miracle.
I started crying when he was talking he’s come such a long way.
He is so lucky to have a mom like you that fought to get him the help he needed. So happy to see his progress. He’s doing AWESOME!!!
JWoww said her next goal for her son will be to have him fully potty trained and know his numbers 1 through 20 on his own by the end of the year.
However, while it feels like her son is taking over the world with his progress, the mom says they are still taking it all one day at a time.
