A case filed three years ago finally reaches a conclusion as a father who had hurt his baby daughter in 2017 was sentenced to a six years in prison. The two-month-old baby was found to have a broken leg. After she was sent to the hospital, doctors were horrified to discover 13 bone fractures in the infant’s body.
Doctors horrified at newborn’s injuries
Reports showed that Ryan Smith, 25, was changing the diaper of the infant when she would not stop crying. Out of anger, Smith had physically hurt his daughter and broke one of her legs. He admitted that he lost his temper at the infant.
Also, another negligence he had admitted to the authorities was having to wait more or less two hours before taking the baby to the hospital after he had injured her.
In the hospital, the doctors discovered several more bone fractures that the baby had suffered during the violent outbursts of her father. Some of the findings of the doctors include broken ribs, injured knee, and fractured humerus bone. Also, the baby’s tibia on both legs was injured.
Justice after three years
In 2017, the baby girl whose name is undisclosed had her leg broken by her father named Ryan Smith.
According to the mother of the baby named Emily McCune, Smith has become violent towards their daughter. To calm himself, he would allegedly punch walls then smoke marijuana to calm himself down.
He had expressed his anger towards McCune and their baby. Also, McCune admits that she threatened to leave Smith if he did not get his act straight.
Three years after causing almost-fatal bone fractures to his daughter, Smith finally is sentenced by a court to a 6-year-period in prison with the basis of two kinds of Level 3 felony charges.
