The Tamil asylum seeker family from Biloela that has been on Christmas Island for two years will be reunited on the Australian mainland, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has confirmed.
Mr Frydenberg said on Tuesday morning the family would be back together “very soon”.

“This process, this family have gone on Christmas Island for a very long time,” he told Sky News.
“The good news, the positive developement is the family will be reunited on Autsralian shores very shortly.”
Mr Frydenberg would not comment on whether the family would be allowed to stay in Australia permanently.
Immigration Minister Alex Hawke will make a detailed statement about their longer term future later on Tuesday.
