Attorney Claims Chris Watts’ Daughter Begged Him Not to Kill Her After Seeing What He Did to Her Sister

Four months after Chris Watts was sentenced to five life sentences after he pled guilty to murdering his pregnant wife and their two young daughters, new details surrounding the murders are being released.

According to People, the lawyer representing Shanann Watts’ family says they have specific details regarding how Chris killed his growing family and what he allegedly said to his eldest daughter, 4-year-old Bella when she saw him disposing of Shanann’s body.

During an interview with Dr. Phil, the lawyer, Steven Lambert, claimed:

“From our understanding, Bella did not witness the actual killing of her mother, Shannan. It was not until Chris was in the process of trying to dispose of Shanann’s body, essentially wrapping her up in the sheet. While he was doing that Bella walked in and asked, ‘What are you doing with Mommy?’ […] And what he said was that ‘Mommy is sick, and we need to take her to the hospital to make her better.’”

In the months leading up to the murders, which took place in August, Chris was having an affair with a co-worker named Nichol Kessinger. Kessinger alleged that she thought Chris and Shanann were going through a divorce while she was dating Chris.

Lambert alleges that Chris ultimately killed his family following an argument with Shanann over the affair:

“In that fight, [Chris] essentially confessed to having an affair, that he wanted a divorce, that it was pretty much over between them. [Shanann] said something to the effect of, ‘Well, you’re not going to see the kids again.’ As a consequence of that conversation, he strangled her to death.”

The lawyer further alleges that Chris didn’t kill his daughters at their home, but rather in his truck after he had disposed of Shanann’s body.

Bella reportedly begged her dad to “please do not do to me what you just did to CC.”

Lambert’s interview with Dr. Phil comes just a few weeks after investigators released a statement saying new interviews with Chris revealed more details into Shanann’s, Bella’s, and Celeste’s deaths.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation claimed that the interviews would be made public at a later date, but that Lambert’s interview with Dr. Phil came as a “surprise” to them.

Dr. Phil said that his purpose of this particular interview was so that Shanann would be remembered as a loving and caring mom, adding that “she had nothing to do with this,” despite Chris allegedly telling investigators in earlier interviews that Shanann was responsible for killing their two daughters.

The host went on to say that he refuses to allow his platform to become a place where they sensationalize Chris rather than a place where they honor the lives of Shanann, Bella, Celeste, and their unborn child Nico.

It’s unclear when the Colorado Bureau of Investigation plans on releasing their interview.
