Feb. 16, 1 p.m. The San Francisco Police Department provided more details on Wednesday regarding a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Safeway on Market Street in the late afternoon Tuesday.
The department said that when officers arrived on the scene at 4:49 p.m., they found a 20-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officers interviewed witnesses and learned the shooting occurred after a physical fight broke out among a group of people, police said.
“During the fight, one of the participants of the fight produced a gun and fired into the crowd that was fighting,” the department said in its report provided to SFGATE.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the 85-year-old woman wasn’t involved in the fight, police said.
