The note reads:
I missed the bus. As your son, I regret to inform you that I’ve missed my means of public transportation. I know you must be on a roller coaster of emotions right now but rest assured, I’ve decided to stay home. This was a tough decision to make while you were gone for 20 minutes. I’m probably in my bed moping about the fact that I can’t go to school, so please don’t interrupt me. If you require any further assistance, please see the pros/cons chart on the back side.
The pros of staying home after missing the bus were:
- First day home this quarter, grades will be fine.
- Today was gonna be a bad one, can’t get over my hair.
Followed by the cons:
The very relatable letter quickly went viral, garnering over 925,000 likes and over 210,000 retweets.
Many applauded the child for his creativity and others wondered if he would write them a note the next time they wanted to play hooky:
Next time I call into work sick, I need your brother to write my sick note to my boss.
Sarah later updated her tweet to add that her mom did let her brother stay home, despite being upset he missed his bus:
Update since everyone wants to know, YES. My mom let him stay home. how could she not?!
It’s unclear how old Sarah’s brother was when he missed his bus and wrote the letter, but according to Inside Edition, it was written in 2017.
