State troopers found the dead body of the missing Virginia man in Florida on Sunday and Robert Avery Coltrain, 25, has been charged for illegally transporting the body, according to the reports by WSVN. Brian Trotter, 26, was last seen alive on October 17, after which he was pronounced missing by his family.
A single-car crash report was responded to by the Florida Highway Patrol troopers at about 4 p.m. on The Palmetto Expressway on Sunday. According to the NBC Miami reports, the troopers immediately noticed the foul odor that was coming from the back of Coltrain’s Acura. They then towed the vehicle to the parking lot of Westland Mall in Hialeah and asked Coltrain to remove his belongings from the car.
The trunk was then opened and the FHP troopers discovered the body inside with continuous foul odor coming out of it. The body had been wrapped in a piece of fabric and was very badly decomposed. After conducting a preliminary examination, the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner said that Trotter had been shot in the torso multiple times.
After obtaining a search warrant for the car, the police deduced that Coltrain was shot at least once while inside the car. As of now, Coltrain has been held at the Miami-Dade jail without any bond.
