A central Florida man shot his girlfriend to death and severely wounded another woman who was attempting to protect and save his girlfriend before the police could come to the rescue and track him down using dogs and drones.
Christopher Michael Pequeen, 33, has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, shooting into a building, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, attempted first degree murder, first degree murder, tampering in felony life proceeding, robbery with a firearm, resisting an officer without violence, and battery of a police dog, according to WRIC.
According to an arrest affidavit, Pequeen’s girlfriend died from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and is not being named by the police whereas the other woman protecting her is in stable condition in a hospital and is also not being named.
The incident began with the argument between Pequeen and his girlfriend who were staying in the Bartow duplex, sharing with another couple, at about 5 a.m. on Sunday morning. The girlfriend then went into the other couple’s bedroom and informed them that she wanted to get a restraining order against her boyfriend and that she was really afraid of him.
The affidavit says that she was extremely scared that Pequeen would attempt to kill her as he had kept his hand tightly over her mouth and nose to now allow her to breathe earlier. The Ledger said that about three hours later, Pequeen entered the other couple’s bedroom and hit his girlfriend with a handgun, eventually shooting her once in the chest.
Pequeen then pointed his gun towards the other woman who was trying to protect the victim and shot her once. He then continued to point the gun at his girlfriend, wounding her with more than two gunshots leading to her death.
