John Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston paid tribute to their late son Jett with a sweet photo.
Ten years ago, the famous couple unexpectedly lost their teenaged son to an accident which resulted from a seizure.
FOX News reports that while on a family vacation back in 2009, the 16-year-old hit his head on a bathtub after suffering from Kawasaki Syndrome. The parents’ eldest child would be 27 years old this year.
The 56-year-old actress shared a rare black-and-white photo of Jett on Instagram just ahead of his birthday during Autism Awareness Month. She then paired the picture with an emotional caption.
The family later revealed that Jett had autism after his death. Preston wrote:
To my sweet love, Jett… you are in our hearts forever. I send love to all of the beautiful autistic children and the wonderful people who love them. May we all shine and grant love and respect to children with special needs. #autismawareness #autism
Travolta, 65, commented on his wife’s message with a heart emoji.
The couple’s late son had a history of seizures.
Preston opened up about the health conditions that led to her 16-year-old death on a November 2012 episode of “The Doctors.”

In a September 2016 interview, Travolta told Good Morning America that when a parent loses a child unexpectedly, the pain can rip apart a family.
As reported by Yahoo! News, having another son following the loss of Jett helped the family heal and come together.
Travolta said:
“We certainly have bonded together. And certainly, having little Ben has been a beautiful kind of glue for us to rebond after tremendous loss.”
Preston and Travolta also have a 19-year-old daughter together, Ella. Their second son, Ben, was born five years after the tragedy.
