A shopper’s distressing video showing how a man tried to film her in a changing room has been viewed more than 16 million times – and the woman hoped the clip would act as a warning to others.
TikTok user @Maceyl7, from the US, shared the video with the message ‘Be safe out there’ earlier this month.
It shows her standing in the changing room of an unknown shop in front of a mirror, with a gap under the divide to the cubicle adjacent.
As she films, she zooms in on a pair of white shoes which can be seen under the divide that are propping up a phone with the camera appearing to point at the mirror in her cubicle.
It’s unclear at what point the phone was spotted, but she wrote: ‘A man attempting to record me changing in the dressing room.’
Comments for the viral clip have been disabled, but it’s been liked more than 2.6 million times by viewers.
There have been no updates on the post and it’s unclear if the incident was reported or if any action was taken against the man involved.
The video was also shared on Reddit, where people were left angry and concerned, with one writing: “I’d grab his phone and go to the cashier/manager, show him the recording of this and then call the police.”
A second wrote: “I hope you challenged him, or called the police.”
Someone else added: “Hopefully this is fake. I know it happens, but that’s really trashy.”
