A 2-year-old boy from Florida was reportedly left in a “scorching hot van” on July 29 while at daycare.
As ABC News reports, an investigation is ongoing after a 2-year-old was discovered dead in a hot van that belonged to his daycare, Ceressa’s Daycare and Preschool in Oakland Park, Florida.
In a press release, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office revealed, Noah Sneed was found unconscious by one of the employee’s of the daycare:
Around 3:30 p.m. July 29, BSO Communications received the call asking for medical assistance at the Ceressa’s Daycare and Preschool located at 3140 N.W. 21st Ave. in Oakland Park. When BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue arrived, they confirmed the toddler was deceased. […] Detectives confirmed the toddler had been transported in the van to the facility Monday morning.
An autopsy is being performed to confirm Noah’s cause of death.
The release continued:
Investigators are continuing to interview daycare employees and other witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the death.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact BSO Homicide Detective John Curcio at 954-321-4210. Anonymous tips can be provided through Broward Crime Stoppers by calling 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
It’s unclear exactly how long little Noah was in the van for, however, as ABC News reports, temperatures climbed to 91-degrees in Oakland Park that day.
And while Noah’s family has yet to speak out regarding their son’s passing, BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion told NBC Miami that an advocacy group is doing their best to console Noah’s mother:
“Whether you’re a parent or not, I’m sure you can imagine what it would be like to receive devastating news such as this. […] You would think that any facility that deals with children, especially young children, would have some kind of checks and balances or some kind of system. Unfortunately, it’s not the first time that we’ve heard of a case like this happening. These tragedies continue to happen.”
Noah is the second child in just four days to pass away after being left in a hot vehicle, and the 24th child overall in 2019, as Kids and Cars reports.
On Friday, July 26, a father of 1-year-old twins was arrested after he reported accidentally left his son and daughter in his car while he worked 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. As Dearly previously reported, that father was supposed to drop his children off at daycare, but “blanked out.”
Sadly, these numbers come after 52 children died in 2018, the most to ever be recorded.
A family friend has since started a GoFundMe for Noah’s family.
