A source with knowledge of how Chris Watts is spending his time in jail is speaking out.
As Dearly previously reported, Watts is currently being held without bail after being arrested and charged with the murder of his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and their two daughters, 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste.

In an interview with People, a source told the magazine that Watts remains on suicide watch — or “Close Watch Protocol” — and, as a result, is confined to his cell 23 hours a day.
The source also revealed that Watts only has two personal items with him in his cell, which he uses to “reflect” because “he has nothing to do but reflect on what happened. That’s basically it.”
Those two items are reportedly a bible and a photo of Shanann, Bella, and Celeste:
“He doesn’t have much to do in jail. … He sleeps a lot. He can just sit there and look at the picture and read the Bible.”
According to the source, he doesn’t do much talking, either. On occasion, Watts will reportedly converse with guards and other inmates but does his best to keep a “low profile.”

The source told People in a previous interview:
“He’s not doing well at all. The gravity of the situation has hit him like a ton of bricks. Depression is setting in, and he’s despondent.”
It was also revealed that Watts feels misunderstood and is upset with the way the media has portrayed him:
“He’s very frustrated. He didn’t know that everyone knows about this case. […] He feels like no one understands him, and nobody knows what happened. He thinks if they did understand, they’d realize that he’s not the monster everyone says he is.”
Watts was first arrested on August 15, two days after his wife and daughters were reported missing. Their bodies were later found in an oil field where Watts used to work.

In an alleged confession, Watts admitted to killing his wife “in a fit of rage” after watching Shanann strangle their daughters to death via a baby monitor.
