Police officers in Gonzales, Louisiana, engaged in a chase with an alleged child rapist on October 18. The suspect, identified as Wendell Sanchez, allegedly tried to make a run for it after finding out that his companion, an 11-year-old girl, was pregnant.
According to a report in New York Post, the 11-year-old girl complained of pains in her abdomen area, which is why she was accompanied by the 34-year-old suspect to the emergency room around 6:30 p.m.
During the examination, the suspect only stayed inside his vehicle.

At first, doctors thought that the little girl was merely suffering from a stomach bug. Upon further examination, they were shocked to find out the the girl was carrying a child.
They also had suspicion that Sanchez was sexually abusing the victim, and there’s a chance that he might be the father of the child.
When Sanchez was made aware of the girl’s condition, he was visibly anxious. Meanwhile, hospital staff secretly called the police and informed them of the situation at hand. Police suspected that Sanchez raped the girl and eventually got her pregnant.
Law enforcement officers from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office were summoned to a local hospital around 7 p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived at the scene, deputies found out that the suspect had already flee from the hospital.

The Advocate reported that the suspect flee in his vehicle. Later on, he made a stop and abandoned his car for fear of being apprehended on the road. After abandoning his car, he then ran off to hide in a nearby apartment complex.
With the help of Gonzales Police Department, deputies were able to track Sanchez, who was hiding on the patio of a residence. When they took him into custody, they also found him in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The alleged child rapist is currently being held at the Ascension Parish Jail. He’s being held at $540,000 bond.
He will be facing multiple charges related to first-degree rape with a victim under the age of 13, resisting an officer, possession of schedule II CDS, drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass, and simple criminal damage to property.
