A mom and dad are understandably upset after a video showed their young son being hit multiple times by a stranger.
According to ClickonDetriot, the 7-year-old boy was playing outside of his day care when he reportedly sprayed a woman with water. The woman then proceeded to retaliate by hitting the child multiple times.
the assault, those running the day care at the time called the boy’s parents, Monique Riley and Marquis Roach, to tell them what happened:
“I received a text message about 5:45 that the police were called over to the day care and a lady had whooped him.”
The woman seen hitting the 7-year-old was later identified as Rebecca Gregg. According to the report, Gregg works in lawn-care but does not work for the day care where the boy was being looked after.
According to Fox 6 Now, Gregg has since been charged with misdemeanor assault as a result of her actions.
Wilbert Houston lives across the street from the day care, he told Fox 6 Now that he “could hear [the boy] screaming”:
“I don’t know what made that lady snap the way she did. […] I think the lady should be in more trouble than that, because she was too nonchalant. She did it like it’s a normal thing for her to do.”
According to those at the day care, none of them saw the abuse happen in real-time, something that Riley said should have never happened.
She admitted:
“Who are you to put your hands on my child? She’s pulling his hair, threw him on the ground like, over some water. […] I feel like he should have been watched closer by the day care provider, as well. That lady shouldn’t be able to do that to him.”
Now the parents are helping the boy heal from the trauma. Riley told ClickonDetroit that she hopes her son is able to recover:
“His body is sore. His neck is sore. His shoulder sore. He has a bald spot in his head. […] I’m very upset. Like, I’m, I don’t think I been this mad ever in my life.”
Gregg reportedly has a history of assault. She was charged with domestic violence after holding a knife to her then-boyfriend in 2015.
