On 06-10-19 the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Childcare Network Daycare located in Sneads Ferry, NC regarding an 11-month-old male child that was in their care. The company reported this child was transported to the hospital earlier in the day regarding a medical emergency; but learned later on the child was in fact injured purposefully by a day care worker there. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation which determined that the day care worker, Bethan Pringle, was the worker who was responsible for the child’s injuries. The child’s injuries were from head trauma which resulted when the child was intentionally dropped by the suspect.
According to The Sun, medical staff expects the victim to make a full recovery. However, Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller believes time will tell the full extent of the child’s injuries. Further, he is emphasizing the gravity of Pringle’s actions.
“Sometimes children make noises – but abuse is unacceptable. What happened was terrible. It was wrong.”
Furthermore, Miller claims that there was evidence at the day care center suggesting a history of child abuse. In other words, it is unlikely that this was an isolated incident.
On 06-19-19, Bethan Pringle, 23 YOA was arrested and charged with Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury. She was given a $100,000 secured bond and placed in the custody of the Onslow County Detention Center. At this time, medical professionals advised the child will physically recover.
As The Sun reports, Pringle has since posted bond.
Rasansky Law Firm reports that signs of day care abuse include extreme mood swings, acting out, showing knowledge of sexual activity, or unexplained injuries. Other signs include fear or anxiety about the day care or a worker and regressive behavior.
More importantly, trust your own instincts when it comes to your child’s safety.
