Dealing with the loss of a baby is a heartbreaking endeavor for any parent.

NFL lineman for the New Orleans Saints, Jermon Bushrod, penned a heart-wrenching note after his baby girl passed away at just one week old.

The 34-year-old posted a photograph of his last moments with his newborn before she passed away. He revealed that he was heartbroken after forging a special bond with the little girl.

On Bushrod’s social media, he posted several pictures of himself embracing Jordyn Lynn.

In one Instagram picture, her tiny hand is wrapped around her dad’s finger and in another photo, the newborn is cradled on her father’s chest.

On Saturday the NFL veteran tweeted:

My heart has been broken. My baby girl Jordyn Lynn Bushrod passed away Thursday, October 18th.

She was only here for a week but we were ready to love her unconditionally …

According to ESPN, he missed practice Thursday and Friday, as well as the Saints game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Bushrod revealed in an Instagram message his daughter had health issues before she was born. He wrote:

We knew there was issues before birth, but we were ready for your journey. Because of you Jordyn our family is stronger. You were going to be special. We were not expecting or ready for this.

Having you leave this earth after 1 week just hurts. My kids are my and to never see you again will be tough BUT our GOD will get us through this.

The Saints offered their condolences, as well as a myriad of fellow football players and fans.

Bushrod’s teammate, Benjamin Watson, a tight end for the Saints and fellow father wrote:

We are with you. We love you. We are praying for you and mourning with you as best we know how

May God provide divine comfort to your entire family during this time and the days and years to come.

Another fan wrote to the grieving father after his announcement:

Awwww, god bless him. It’s so sad to see this. I’m literally in tears. I have a new born so seeing stuff like this breaks me down. I am so sorry for their loss. May god bless you with another one when your ready.

The free agent who once played for the Bears and Dolphins said he’s getting through this tough time with the support of family, faith, and friends.

Bushrod did not disclose the cause of the baby’s death.
