JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A motorcyclist and their passenger died in a crash Wednesday morning in James City County.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on VA Route 30 near Barnes Road in Toano. Police say the motorcycle struck a commercial vehicle. The operator was pronounced dead the scene and the passenger was taken to the hospital, where they later died.

No other details have been provided, but police say the investigation is active.
Eastbound and westbound lanes are closed near the crash site. Drivers are asked to avoid the area, as the closure is expected to last for a while.
