A man who allegedly raped and impregnated an 11-year-old Tennessee girl before kidnapping a 9-year-old girl and absconding with her to Florida has been placed under arrest. Mynor Leonel Jeronimo-Velasquez, 31, is said to have been found living with the younger child and is now facing serious charges filed by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, WBIR reports.
1. POLICE BEGAN INVESTIGATING HIM AFTER DISCOVERING THE 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL’S PREGNANCY.After it was discovered that the young girl was eight months pregnant, local law enforcement had to intervene. Maryville police chief Tony Crisp told the Daily Times that a welfare check was carried out both at her home and at a local hospital. It was at that point that Velasquez made his way to Florida.
2. IT WAS A GROUP EFFORT TO LOCATE THE SUSPECT.It was said that the Martin County Sheriff’s Warrant Unit worked with School Resource Deputies, Special Victim Unit Detectives, the DCF, and US Customs to locate Velasquez. They eventually did – and he was living with a 9-year-old girl who’d recently been reported missing from Tennessee.

4. THANKFULLY, THE GIRL WAS RESCUED AND WAS SAID TO BE UNHARMED.Police said they didn’t believe the younger girl had been raped by Velasquez, with Crisp saying, “Where we’re at in our investigation at this juncture, we don’t have any evidence that would support that at this time.” However, Velasquez was charged with two counts of rape on a child under 13 for allegedly impregnating the older girl.
5. VELASQUEZ WAS FOUND TO BE IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY.After being extradited back to Tennessee, he was placed on an immigration detainer and placed in the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $250,000 bond. It’s unclear whether or not he will be deported or face trial and potentially serve a prison sentence in the US.
