Therapist Wendy Madison Bauer, 44, spent more than 11 years alongside her beloved fiance, Luke Perry, before his sudden passing last week.
The 52-year-old “Riverdale” actor died last Monday, March 4, just days after suffering a massive stroke, Dearly reported.
Perry left behind two children, Jack, 21, and daughter Sophie, 18. His daughter thanked the public for their support after her father’s unexpected passing.
She said, in part:
I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.
Now, Bauer is speaking out for the first since losing her partner of more than a decade.
She gave a statement to People thanking those who have said kind words about Perry. Bauer said:
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support. The countless, heartwarming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time.”
Bauer continued:
“The past 11 and a half years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him. I also want to thank his children, family, and friends for their love and support. We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed.”
The couple kept their relationship private and rarely stepped out on red carpets together. It’s unclear if they had a wedding planned.
Perry first rose to fame on the hit television show, “Beverly Hills, 90210.” He most recently portrayed Archie’s father on the series, “Riverdale.”
The family has not publicly announced plans for his funeral service.
