Beloved actor Luke Perry left behind not only a lasting legacy in Hollywood but also two children who are now mourning their father.

The 52-year-old actor passed away in the hospital on Monday, just days after suffering from a massive stroke, Dearly reported.

His passing came as a shock to friends, including his former “Beverly Hills, 90210” costar, Shannen Doherty.

The actress said that Perry’s children, Jack, 21, and daughter Sophie, 18, were his “biggest accomplishment.” She explained:

“Luke loved his family. He raved about his kids and how proud he was of them. He showed me videos of the often. They were his heart and for him, his biggest accomplishment.”

Now, his teen daughter is speaking out.

Sophie took to Instagram to thank friends and fans for reaching out to her with kind words following her father’s sudden passing.

The 18-year-old was in Africa when her father suffered from the stroke, but made it to his side in time. She said:

A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.

The actor’s daughter said she’s still working through how to process the situation but is grateful for the support.

I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.

Sophie’s heartfelt post received a flood of support in the comments. Many of her father’s fans offered condolences.

Her older brother, Jack, has yet to publicly speak about the loss of their father.

Thankfully, it seems the pair have plenty of support behind them during this difficult time.
