Counting On” star Jill Duggar said she saw a sign from God during a memorial service for her grandmother, Mary Duggar, who tragically died in a drowning accident earlier this month.
The 28-year-old reality star shared photos from the service with fans on Instagram this week. Jill wrote:
Yesterday was a very hard, yet beautiful day. The service was lovely and very honoring to my Grandma and the one she loved more than anyone or anything else, Jesus Christ! The very personal photos showed the Duggar family mourning their late matriarch, who died at the age of 78.
One of the images showed a rainbow in the distance, which Jill said her grandmother would have called a “sign of God’s faithfulness.”
It started raining right before the graveside service and then there was a beautiful rainbow…”a sign of God’s faithfulness”, as Grandma would always say!Mary passed away on June 11 after accidentally slipping and falling into a pool, the Duggar family confirmed.
The family said she suffered from two strokes early this year “and some other medical issues” before the accident.
A rep for the Duggar’s said in a statement:
“We’ve been really touched by the outpouring of support and more than a thousand people referred to her as America’s grandma which is a title we hadn’t even given her.”

Though the family was devastated by the loss, Jill seemed confident that she’ll be reunited with her grandmother one day.
She wrote on Instagram:
“We’ll see you in heaven, Grandma! I know you’re enjoying your time with Jesus before the rest of us arrive!”
