A Chicago attorney remains in police custody after he threw two dogs from a balcony during an argument with his wife on Monday night.
According to Inside Edition, Jerald Jeske, 51, and his wife were arguing in a vehicle after returning from a holiday party, when she says he slapped her twice.
During the argument, Jeske allegedly said:
“You love those dogs more than you love me… I’m going to kill those dogs.”
The woman told police that her enraged husband then grabbed her keys.
Prosecutor Erin Antonietti told Inside Edition that after taking his wife’s keys and entering her home, Jeske locked the door behind him.
His wife was retrieving a spare key from her neighbor when she heard one of her dogs “screeching.”
She soon found her Chihuahua on the ground in the backyard badly bleeding with one eye dislodged from its socket. She carried him to his bed, where he died a short time later.

When police arrived at the home, they discovered the 17-year-old Chihuahua dead.
As the Chicago Tribune reports, a Chicago police spokeswoman said the second dog, which was also thrown from the balcony, ran away and has not been found.
According to Inside Edition, home security camera footage show Jeske committing the horrendous act.
Police arrested Jeske on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. He is being held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday.
