Former teacher, 26-year-old Madalyn Arnett went to jail last spring after pleading guilty to sexual battery. Arnett was then sentenced to four years in prison after it was revealed that she had intercourse with a 16-year-old student inside of her car. She is now a registered sex offender.
Now the ex-high school teacher is asking to get out of jail before her four-year sentence is up. According to People, her lawyers filed a motion to have her released “immediately” as a result of her good behavior and work at the prison.
Former Teacher Turned Sex Offender Asks for an Early ReleaseHer attorney said this of Arnett in the motion for early release, “Ms. Arnett has a positive attitude. She has a permanent residence with family, and all of her family and friends reside in the area, including her three young children. Ms. Arnett plans on actively seeking work upon her release.”
They also noted that she “is extremely remorseful for her
actions and has shown a deeper level of understanding and compassion for all
victims.”
As WCPO reported, Arnett was arrested after she had “sexually-charged conversations” with a male student after he talked to her about how he could improve his grades in March of 2018. After reaching out for help, Arnett reached out to the student via social media and began the inappropriate conversations.
Arnett also sent sexual photos and videos of herself to the teenager. Then, on March 23, 2018, the teacher picked the student up and they had sex in her car, prosecutors alleged during the trial.
After the incident was reported to the school, the school then contacted police. As the Dayton Daily News reports, prosecutors do not recommend releasing Arnett early.
