An ex-Florida teacher confessed that she had developed some strong feelings for a student and they were even involved in a physical relationship at the student’s residence. The authorities took Kristen O’Brien, the teacher who resigned from her job only last week, accusing her of “having inappropriate sexual encounter with a student”.
The student’s mother contacted the authorities after checking her ward’s phone which revealed “explicit” messages. The 31-year-old teacher, when confronted by the guardian, told her that she had developed an “inappropriate emotional relationship with her ward”.
The former teacher further claimed that she provided the student with three alternatives: they can never acknowledge her feelings, or they can terminate communication with each other, or they can continue with the illicit affair without caring about the consequences. The 31-year-old faces charges of “lewd and lascivious battery and committing a sexual act on a child older than 12 but younger than 16”.
