If you’re a fan of Subway restaurants, you’re not going to like this revelation. After one person asked employees and former insiders at Subway to spill the beans about all the bad practices going on behind closed doors, lots of people came forward with stories. And some of the best Subway stories are about the “wildest” customer requests the employees have ever encountered.
While some of the personal stories are “disgusting” others are hilarious. The post has received thousands of comments in a matter of days, giving it the viral status its original poster had hoped it would get.
“After my three years at Subway, this is the wildest sandwich I’ve seen,” the employee wrote.
The Reddit comment continued: “So this guy got a meatball sub, which is disgusting in the first place if you’ve ever worked subway. Then he continued to ask for numerous veggies. That’s not too strange. People do that sometimes. Then he asked for like four different sauces on it, and here’s the kicker: he asked for two chocolate chip cookies crumbled onto it. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES ON A MEATBALL SUB WITH A LOAD OF VEGGIES AND A DISGUSTING COMBINATION OF SAUCES. So this was my coworker who made it, and my regional manager was also in the store at the time. The manager continued to use him as an example in the regional group chat, as my coworker didn’t question it at all, which is extremely impressive to me. I’ve rambled on for too long, but I’ve got a bajillion subway stories if anyone wants to hear more.”
Now that is disturbing.
Another former employee shared a shocking story from their local Subway restaurant.
“Back in High School, I worked at the local subway. Every night, 30 minutes to an hour before close, this large, African American man, built like an NFL linebacker, would come in, and no matter how many or what kinds, would clean out whatever was left of our cookies for the night. Two Oatmeal Raisins? A dozen Chocolate Chip? A smattering of everything? Didn’t matter, he’d purchase every single cookie left and leave.”
A small-town girl shared the following story: “My town had a lot of foreign exchange students from South Korea, and they would always order the meatball subs with scoops of “seafood sensation” which was just mayo and imitation crab. Then have it toasted, it smelled horrible. I also had a guy that could barely talk. He was so high wanted every sauce on his chicken bacon ranch; it was more soup by the end. Then he gets to the register, and he remembers he doesn’t have any money and walks away. My manager actually asked anyone if they wanted it.”
Another night shift worker wrote, “Had a regular come in at 3 AM usually that would request that we toast the s*** out of his sandwich. I’m talking the whole thing was basically charcoal. The first time he came in while I was on shift, I pulled his sandwich out of the toaster, and he told me to put it back in and again and again. I thought he was a drunk guy f***ing with me. Apparently, he really liked the taste of burnt everything. Grossed me out.”
