In March 2015, several men broke into a Maine family’s home and got away with a large amount of jewelry worth thousands of dollars.
Owners Brian and Connie Loucks weren’t in their home, but the thieves returned the next day for more, Sky News reports.
And that time, the 62-year-old mom was home alone.
Connie called her daughter, Sarah, and said the thieves from the day before had returned. An affidavit read:
She stated they were banging on the windows and doors of the residence and when she asked them what they wanted they stated they were looking for “Billy.”
But soon, the line went dead. The daughter called police and they arrived at the residence about 20 minutes later.
Connie was found dead on her sofa.
An autopsy later revealed that she’d suffered from a heart attack, likely triggered by the burglars.
One of the men, 26-year-old Carlton L. Young, was arrested the following day when he was linked to the robbery at Connie’s home and others.

And this week, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and burglary charges, WMTW reports.
Connie’s husband had some harsh words for Young. In the court room, he told the judge:
“I think the defendant is a coward and a punk. I hope his soul rots in hell.”
The family has still been working to recover from their unexpected loss. The husband said:
“This is an unimaginable tragedy for my family. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about how terrorized Connie must have been that day. She was a sweet, loving, kind individual who doesn’t deserve this.”
Young’s lawyer said that he feels guilt over the death and didn’t mean for anyone to die that day.
Several of Young’s accomplices have also been arrested. One other was also given a 10 year sentence for manslaughter.
