BALTIMORE (WBFF) – Three weeks before Election Day, Maryland election officials confirmed that rap-artist Kanye West has qualified as a write-in candidate for president.
The State Board of Elections said West will not appear on the ballot itself but has qualified as an official write-in option for voters when picking a presidential candidate. That means if someone writes-in West’s name, their ballot will be tabulated and counted. The SBE said West does not have a vice presidential running mate associated with his candidacy.
The news for Maryland voters comes after West posted a campaign video on his Twitter account on Oct. 12, 2020. The video shows West calling on voters to write his name in on their ballots. He said through religion, “We will be the kind of nation, the kind of people, God intends us to be.”

Also on Twitter, West posted about voting results from Kentucky – through Twitter flagged the tweet as manipulated media. A local television station in Kentucky indicated that the link West was using was a product of election results testing done by the Associated Press.
