A woman from Queens threw her infant baby out of a bathroom window. After that she even ignored the crying baby and went to sleep after getting a shower.
According to Crimeonline, a person who passed nearby, noticed the crying baby on Sunday, outside Ozone Park home. According to the New York Post, the baby was rushed to the hospital, where he was put on a ventilator and his condition is critical.
The woman was 23-year-old Sabita Dookram. The court document says that Sabita claims that she found the baby on Saturday evening, out of nowhere.
Dookram said, “I went to the bathroom, and it just popped out of me.” She further added, “I panicked and threw it out the bathroom window.”
In another statement, she agreed on knowing that she was pregnant, and the child belonged to a co-worker at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Dookram said, ““I did not check on the baby. I put my clothes in the laundry hamper in the bathroom, I showered and went to sleep.”
The authorities are not yet sure that anyone else in Dookram’s home knew about her pregnancy or whether she had recently given a birth. Even her charges are not revealed, though the police is not expecting any other suspect.
According to the New York Post, The newborn baby was named John Doe on a temporary basis, and his weight was 6 pounds and 8 ounces during the birth time. The incident was captured on survillence camera when the mother threw the baby out of window.
Dookram is arrested and her bond is set at $50,000. Her hearing will be on November 5. A protection order was released by the court that didn’t allow her to contact the baby.
