LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Seven people were injured, including one critically, in a shooting outside a Kentucky community center, police said Monday.
The shooting happened after 9 p.m. Sunday at the Dunbar Community Center in Lexington, news outlets quoted police Lt. Jeremy Tuttle as saying.
Police responded to the community center for a call that shots had been fired and found one person suffering from critical wounds on the scene, Tuttle said. An ambulance took the person to the hospital, and six others were later taken to hospitals by private vehicles, officials said.
Investigators said they believed one group of people was on the basketball courts at the center when another group began shooting.
Police were still investigating. None of the people involved were identified and no suspect information was released Monday morning.
Lexington has experienced several shootings in recent weeks, including last Sunday, Aug. 23, when a 17-year-old was killed in a shooting at the Fayette Mall that left two others with non–life threatening injuries, police said.
