The sheriff’s office said foul play is not suspected, and an inspection of the chest freezer, which is about three-feet tall, showed that a hasp used for a padlock had closed “trapping the children inside,” according to the Facebook post. The sheriff’s office said the family had not placed a padlock on the freezer.

The case will be forwarded to the attorney’s office for review, and the state’s Department of Children and Families was also notified.
