Arrested for Separate Crimes: Mata and Acosta

EL PASO, TEXAS- Today’s crime report should be filed under the heading of “How to Ruin Your Life in Several Steps.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of shots fired at the intersection of Commercial Drive and Montana Avenue.

When the deputies arrived, they said that a nearby SUV had fired a gunshot towards the victims. Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damages.

The deputies discovered that Juan Alejandro Mata, an eighteen-year-old, is the one who had discharged a firearm towards the two victims. Mata was arrested, something he seems to be growing used to and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon ($500 bond) and Deadly Conduct, Discharge of a Firearm ($1,000 bond).

According to jail records, Mata is already back in the community. Why?

I also want to know where he obtained the firearm. I’m assuming he used a handgun. At eighteen, where did he purchase the gun?

Way to ruin your future, kid.

Below are records of Mata’s other alleged visits to the County Jail

Mata seems to be living the life of a second criminal arrested today by the El Paso County Sheriff’s office. This one, at least, is still in the County Jail.

Ramon Acosta, twenty-six, was arrested for Evading Arrest or Detention, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Theft of Property, over $3,500 and under $30,000 (Theft of Vehicle). Acosta’s bonds total $23,000.

I tried to pull up Acosta’s criminal history. There were far too many under the same name. I’m sure this is not his first time in County Jail.

Mata is in the early stages of running his life and closing out any future he may have while Acosta is further down the path. Guess lessons were not learned the first time they were in cuffs. Sad.
