Arson Avoided in San Elizario

On Friday, March 27, 2020, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a business located on the 13100 block of Campo Bello Dr. in San Elizario regarding a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, the victim advised deputies that they observed an unknown individual forcefully enter his business, then return to his vehicle and leaving the scene.

The victim provided a description of the unknown offender that subsequently led to the location of the offender by assisting deputies while conducting a traffic stop.

As a result of the traffic, Luis Antonio Aguilar, age 25, was found to be in possession of implements to start a fire. Further investigation at the business determined Aguilar had emptied the content of a gas can within the property and attempted to ignite a fire.

Aguilar was booked for Arson in the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond totaling $20,000.
